Seizing the Moment (and trusting it before it disappears)

There’s always a moment in the studio—
quiet, almost easy to miss—
where something shifts.

A color lands differently.
A mark feels honest.
And suddenly… the painting starts to come alive.

That’s what happened with Seizing the Moment.

It didn’t begin with a plan.
It began with instinct.

I wasn’t trying to control it.
I was following it.

And that’s the part that matters most—
because those moments don’t stay open for long.

You either trust them…
or you paint over them trying to make it “better.”

This piece is about choosing trust.

Choosing the bold color.
The unexpected movement.
The layer that doesn’t make sense—until it does.

Because joy doesn’t come from perfection.

It comes from allowing something real to exist.

When this painting was finished, I didn’t feel relief.

I felt recognition.

Like I had caught something just in time.

And that’s what I hope it does in your space too—
not just fill a wall,
but remind you to notice the moment you’re in
before it passes.
